Volleyball has long been considered a fun and exciting sport, but recently there has been an increasing debate about the sports label as a gay sport. This article aims to explore the various aspects of this debate, from the benefits of volleyball for LGBTQ+ athletes to the history of the sport being labeled as a gay sport.
Hi, I think it’s because Volleyball is often seen as a “feminine” sport especially in the west, so a lot of the bigoted men who are concerned how men act and gender roles etc. don’t play volleyball because they want to play a “manly” sport, this makes it a safe space for gay people who want to play sports but don’t want to put up.
There is a reason why volleyball holds the unofficial title of the most popular gay sport and has a very organized governing body, the North America Gay Volleyball Association (NAGVA) with over 4, members, 50 official tournaments and 30 leagues. If you are a new player or new to the Bay Area, how do you find LGBT volleyball?.
The reason for wanting to share my story comes from my overwhelming love for volleyball and my passion for advocating for young athletes. I want my story to have an impact on other young athletes.
